Museum of Electrical Technologies

History and Collection

The Museum of Electrical Technologies, Pavia was established in March 2000 by an agreement between the University of Pavia, the Region of Lombardy, the Province of Pavia and the Town of Pavia.

Its presence in Pavia is a permanent tribute to Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery and professor at the University of Pavia.

The Museum aims to exhibit the heritage of electrical technology and its impact on culture, society, economics, and all aspects of daily life. It aims to do this with a European dimension and to cover the whole time span from the origins to the present day.

The Museum is open to the public. It is a part of the University of Pavia and is devoted to education, research, and the dissemination of information in a scientific, accessibile, stimulating and informative way.
